Expectations

  1. When you enroll in NSCC or NLCC, we ask you to commit to a minimum of (1) year in the program.
  2. You must maintain a C or better average in school. A copy of your grade card is to be turned in the Administrative Office when you receive it. This holds true for as long as you are in the program. A failing grade will place you on inactive status. Failure to pass to the next grade, suspension from school or leaving school is cause for disenrollment from the Corps.
  3. If you have three (3) unexcused drills in a twelve (12) month period, you may be dropped from the program. One of the officer staff must be informed if you will not be at a drill to have an excused absence.
  4. You will be asked to take the following oath:
    1. “I promise to serve God, honor our flag, abide by the Naval Sea Cadet Corps regulations, and carry out the orders of the officers appointed over me, and so conduct myself as to be a credit to myself, my unit, the Naval Sea Cadet Corps, the Navy and my country.”
  5. You must pass a physical exam to be accepted. However, as stated in NSCC Medical Reference Policies and Procedures Manual “While no applicant will be denied membership in or applicants/cadets may not be able to fully participate in the physically strenuous NSCC activities due to a disability or medical condition.” (See the manual for additional details)
  6. NOTE: Meeting the physical criteria for acceptance in the NSCC or the NLCC does not mean to infer, that they can meet the physical criteria for subsequent enlistment into the armed forces.
  7. Cadets must maintain a good moral character and be free of felony convictions.
  8. Cadets must accept discipline as a personal challenge leading to advancement and leadership opportunities.
  9. Cadets must maintain a neat, clean, military appearance. Cadet grooming standards will conform to Navy standards with the exception that mustaches will not be worn.
  10. All cadets must know the Eleven General Orders.
  11. Testing for advancement will be carried out both on drill weekends and at home. If you are ready for an exam, you must advise the Training Officer.
  12. The Basic Military Requirements (CD) training program must be successfully completed prior to attending Basic Training (Boot Camp) as well as prior to qualifying for any advanced training.
